The Desire’s of My Heart

The definition of desire, according to Dictionary.com is to wish or long for; crave; want. 

My desires have changed over the years and I think that is definitely a sign of maturity.  I used to desire a little 2 seat sports car in candy apple red.  The same color as my cousins, Chevy Chevelle but instead I got married, had a couple of kids, and got a Geo Metro because it saved us a ton of money on gas and had a back seat.

As my children grew, my desires changed again, sometimes those changes were daily changes.  Such as “I wish these kids were 18 and out of my house” or “I just want 15 minutes without hearing the word Mom.”  Now the kids are gone and I have grandchildren and sometimes I long for the days when my kids were little again and I heard the word “Mom” every 15 minutes.

But my desires, they are changing again.  I’m approaching 50, the house is empty, it’s just me and my husband.  Now it’s time for me to focus on the things that I want to accomplish and one of those things is my Avon business.  I have seen it flourish when I was able to put all my energies into it.  It will be successful again because it is my desire to make it that way.    via Daily Prompt: Desire

Eyeshadow Basics

I remember when I first started wearing makeup.  I was about 13 years old, even though I wasn’t supposed to wear makeup until I was 16.  I would sneak it out of the house and apply it in the school bathroom.  I remember at that time blue was what everyone was wearing and I thought that was perfect because my eyes were a dark blue.

 

Looking back at that now, I see that my natural eye color was lost due to the overwhelming bright blue color on my eyelids.  Thankfully, that was before digital cameras and so there is no way to show you what my makeup job looked like but it was probably something like this:  

Times have changed and now we have learned to wear colors that complement our natural eye color so that your natural eye color stands out instead of blending in. So if we want to complement instead of matching the natural eye color, how do you know what eyeshadow colors to use?

What eyeshadow colors should I use?

Using Avon True Color Quad Eyeshadows to accent and define the shape of your eyes and complement the color of your eyes, the chart below will help you know what colors to use. Skincare Sheet Masks

Sheet masks originated in South Korea and are very popular in Asia.  With the help of celebrities such as January Jones, Brooke Shields, Kate Hudson and many others they are gaining popularity in the U.S.  You’ve probably heard about sheet masks and if you follow any of these celebrities on Instagram, you’ve probably seen their selfies displaying their sheet masks.

Avon has now added two sheet masks for you, firming and brightening.  These masks are super saturated with a generous amount of serum and made with tightly woven material to effectively hold the serum on the skin.

So Happy to be Back

I am so happy to be back blogging about Avon.  Due to an illness in the family and other chaotic events, I decided to stop selling Avon for awhile.  I had too many irons in the fire and something had to give.  I thought it was the best decision but there was a feeling of sadness because I missed it.  A customer called me the other day and expressed how much she missed seeing me come by her house.  We used to chat when I would drop off her brochures and she missed that.  I thought, you know, I miss that too.  In fact, I miss all of my customers.

Selling Avon is an easy and fun job but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of work to do.  I work full-time and I go to school part-time, and I sell Avon.  When my mom was hospitalized I was traveling a lot to be with her and I just couldn’t give my customers the level of customer service that they were used to receiving, so I quit.   However, when my customer called and told me how much she missed receiving her brochures and our conversations, I decided to come back.

I thought I would ease back into running my Avon business, but there is no easing back into it.  I am not that kind of person.  When I decide to do something, I jump in with both feet and it’s full steam ahead.  Blogging is a bit out of my comfort zone but I am determined that this year I’m going to do it a lot more and I’m going to get better at it. Practice makes perfect, right?  So I’ll be sharing with you all the great products that Avon offers, the Avon opportunity, makeup tips and tricks, industry news and I’ll probably throw in random things that have nothing to do with Avon from time to time.

Avon’s Perfectly Matte Review

I am always excited when Avon puts out a new product and with the matte trend going right now I was very excited when I found out they were coming out with a matte lipstick. I don’t have one particular line and color of lipstick that I use, I use them all.  I love new things, so when a new product comes out I have to try it;  which is why I have several tubes of lipstick in my purse and in my makeup drawer at any given time.

I have found that there is a little prep that you will want to do when wearing a matte lipstick.

• Due to the texture of the lipstick, you’ll want to do a little exfoliating of your lips to get all the dead skin off and prevent peeling.  A great way to do this is to mix a little sugar with some olive oil or honey.  It doesn’t really matter what you use as long as you have a vehicle to carry the sugar.  The great part about using sugar and honey together is, of course, it leaves a nice sweet taste on your lips and it will reveal soft smooth lips.
• I always use a lip balm before I apply my matte lipstick.  The Moisture Therapy Intensive Healing & Repair is a great one to use.  
• Always use either a little foundation or concealer on your lips to really let the color of the lipstick stand out.  
• Use a lip brush to fill in the color evenly over your lips.

Now, do you have to follow these steps to wear a matte lipstick?  No, but it will make your matte lipstick last longer and look a little better.  Yes, it takes a little more time but not a lot of extra time and isn’t being the best you can be worth a little extra time anyway?

Why I Stay Away from Gel Manicures

I love gel nail polish.  I love it because it lasts for so long.  Call me lazy if you want too but I don’t like to change my nail polish every other day or even every week.  I get busy and just don’t have the time sometimes, which is why I love gel nail polish because it lasts for so long.  The problem is getting it off.  If you’ve ever sat down with some cotton balls and nail polish remover thinking you were going to take off your gel manicure quickly, you know what I mean.  It takes a lot of nail polish remover and, even more, elbow grease to get that stuff off.  I just don’t want to put that much time and effort into doing my nails and that is why I said goodbye to gel nail polish.  But every time Avon puts it on sale or a customer orders one it makes me want it, and I’m no different than anyone else.  I tend to want what I can’t have.  

 

 

 

I am always looking for DIY articles on the web.  Being an Avon Representative, I’m also looking for beauty tips and information.  Sometimes, the two come together to make me really happy as is the case with this bit of information I found on “The Right Way to Remove your Gel Manicure”.
